Legal repeaters explained
Two reasons is it important to have a legally compliant repeater?
1) Superior repeater performance.
In order to be legally compliant, a repeater must pass a series of sophisticated radio frequency tests (E.T.S.I standard).
In order to pass these tests, the repeater must be designed with high grade, high power components. For customers using balaji systems repeaters, this will result in an excellent mobile phone coverage experience.
The European regulations are there to ensure the repeaters do not cause interference on the mobile phone networks. Interference causes other mobile phone users to experience increased level of dropped calls, and sometimes a complete inability to use the mobile phone network.
Every year India regulators confiscate many thousands of illegal repeaters.
They have created a list of all illegal repeaters with photographs.
The operators base stations detect the illegal interference, the operator then contacts the Communications regulator, the regulator must then find the source of the interference which is often very costly. When found, the repeater will be confiscated, and the user may be fined.
